Student Journalists for
Pleasanton ArtS Profiles
The Pleasanton Cultural Arts Council is partnering with the
online newspaper, The
Pleasanton Patch and The Pleasanton Unified School District to give
Pleasanton High School students an opportunity to use their journalist skills
and to celebrate the artists in our community.
ART PROFILE SPECS
- Any Pleasanton High School student is eligible to write a Pleasanton Arts Profile.
- Articles should be about 500-700 words and provide a profile
of an artist in the Pleasanton community. This includes artists who are peers,
teachers or other artists in Pleasanton or the larger Tri-Valley area.
- Journalists should submit articles to Jill Vellinger, PCAC
President, at jvellinger@comcast.net,
along with the two forms that can be downloaded here: Download
profile form. Download permission form.
- PCAC will review and edit the article and The Pleasanton Patch will have a final say on any possible edits. The final article will be sent
back to the journalist for approval before being posted on the website.
- A
caption from the article, along with a photo (optional) and a brief bio of
the contributing author, will appear on PCAC's Facebook page, along with
a link to the full article on The Pleasanton Patch website. Bios
should contain general information about the journalist, and not give personal
information or addresses.
- The Pleasanton
Patch will run the full article, but not the photo and bio of the author,
under the column header Pleasanton Art Profiles. It will
also provide a link to PCAC's Facebook page.
- The frequency of the articles will depend on the response
from journalists. All journalists will be advised of when their article will
appear.
